Holidays/School Closures

Under the Sun Learning Centers observe the following holidays and school closures: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. The centers are also closed on the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.

Hours of Operation

Under The Sun opens Monday through Friday, at 6:30 am and closes promptly at 6:00 pm.

Security

Open Door Policy Parents are always welcome to drop by our center during the day. We want you to know how well your children are cared for at the center, so come in and see for yourself. If you, or anyone authorized to pick-up your child, are not yet well known to our staff, we will ask for identification. It is an important security measure for you and your child, which is why we also require security codes to get in our doors and have video surveillance at all of our centers. (The video surveillance is for office use only)

State Licensed

Under the Sun is a state licensed child care facility. That means we meet all of the requirements set by the state regarding safety, healthcare, staff qualifications, activities and staff/child ratios.

Safe transportation (Marlton and West Deptford only)

We provide licensed, insured vehicles equipped with seat belts and driven by licensed drivers. These vehicles are used for field trips and transportation of children to and from school.

Severe Weather & Fire Drills

Under the Sun has emergency plans for both fire and severe weather evacuation. Fire drills are held at regular intervals so the children become familiar with the procedure.

High Teacher-to-Child Ratio

Under the Sun strictly maintains (as a minimum) the teacher-to-child ratios set by the state of New Jersey. The children will be assured of the individual attention they require, as it applies to education as well as safety.

Medical

Illnesses - Our goal is to ensure that every child has a safe and healthy environment in which to grow. Because of this, children who become ill may not remain at the center and their parents will be called to pick them up. To further guarantee a healthy environment, a child who is absent from the center with a contagious illness may not return without a signed statement from a physician indicating that the child is no longer contagious. Under the Sun also maintains a policy on the administration of medications. The Center Director will provide you with a copy of this policy upon enrollment.

Allergies

Please let us know if your child has an allergy. We should be aware of the situation so we may take appropriate precautions to protect your child's health.

Accidents/Emergency Care

In the event of an emergency, Under the Sun will administer first aid to the child and you will be notified. Each center has the required staff certified in CPR and First Aid.

Medical Forms

Prior to your child's enrollment, it is required that you complete and submit all Under the Sun medical and immunization forms. Please include the name of your child's Pediatrician and any pertinent information, as requested.

Every Day Care

Child Drop-Off and Pick-Up

We ask that you come into the building when you drop-off or return to pick-up your child and sign your child in and out on our computer. This ensures that your child is under supervision during their time at the center.

Outside Activities

As our name implies, children are permitted and encouraged to play outside in the play yard on a daily basis (weather permitting).

Toys and Personal Belongings

Parents are asked to see that children do not bring toys or personal belongings to the center. The center is not responsible for any articles brought from home.

Clothing

Each child should have a change of clothing that is to be left in the center for emergencies. Infants/toddlers must have two changes of clothes and a supply of disposable diapers. Naturally, all children should wear washable clothing in which they will be comfortable and all clothing should be marked with your child's name.

Rest Periods & Nap Times

All children enrolled in our full time programs are offered a rest period daily. We encourage the children to rest for at least a half hour. To make your child more comfortable, they may bring along a small pillow, blanket and sheet and perhaps a small stuffed animal. Under the Sun provides cots for each child to sleep on.

Toilet Training

Proper use of the potty is an exciting milestone in your child's life. At Under the Sun we have developed several successful techniques for achieving this goal. Please ask the Center Director to provide you with a copy of this policy for your review.

Thank You :) We “Like” You Too!
